Wiltshire Fire & Rescue 
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service identified a need to develop Middle Managers, in line with the public sector guidelines for the service. These managers would have the potential to succeed at this level and go on to more senior positions, so it was important to take a developmental approach consistent with both the public and private sector. We designed a Professional Development Programme, delivered in specialist modules across a year. Delegates completed assignments between the modules to reinforce the application of the learning as well as a project. All the delegates completed the programme successfully and achieved the Level 5 Professional Certificate in Management Studies. The programme sponsor stated that the activity had benefited both the delegates and organisation. The programme is running again starting in September 2009. |
